Welcome to my new blog. I hope to keep an online copy of the logbook from S/V Kiskadee, our 1980 Hughes 38" sloop, with tales earned along the way.
Kiskadee should now be in Mayport Florida, enroute to a winter in the Bahamas. Things changed quickly in September with two major breakdowns. First the furler's upper swivel broke in half and the headsail tried to leave the boat. Two days later the engine threw a connecting rod through the block. The repairs would have taken too long so, with winter closing in, we're delaying until September 2007. I am lucky that things failed only a hundred miles from home.
She now sits in her cradle about 30 feet from Halifax harbour. Launch in May seems so far away, but this time she'll be even more ready.
